Bring Hope to Hussain by Funding His Bone Marrow Transplant
Hussain Bilal's Story
Hussain Bilal, a six-year-old boy from Lahore, has been experiencing persistent weakness, fatigue, frequent infections, fever, and a loss of appetite. He has also struggled to gain weight, adding to concerns about his health. Worried for their son, his parents took him to a doctor for evaluation and diagnostic tests. After reviewing the results, the doctor diagnosed him with thalassemia major, a serious blood disorder in which the body cannot make enough healthy hemoglobin. This leads to severe anemia that leaves a child weak, tired, and prone to illness.
To treat his condition, his doctors have recommended bone marrow transplant. Unfortunately, the cost of the transplant is beyond his family’s financial means. Hussain needs support to receive the recommended treatment and move towards better health. Delaying Hussain’s transplant may prolong his anemia, weakness, and growth difficulties. Thalassemia major often requires lifelong blood transfusions, which can cause iron buildup and damage the heart and liver. A successful bone marrow transplant offers the possibility of a cure.
Hussain belongs to a six-member family. His father works as an assistant to an Inspector General (IG) and is the household’s sole earning member. He earns approximately PKR 60,000 per month, which supports his two children and covers the family’s daily needs. Monthly educational expenses of PKR 10,000, utility bills of PKR 7,000, as well as other household expenses little room for healthcare expenses. The family also has an outstanding loan of PKR 350,000. Affording Hussain’s treatment is beyond his family’s capacity.
Hussain’s family expressed their heartfelt plea as follows:
