Fix Ayyan’s Heart Defects Through Cardiac Surgery

Ayyan Khan's Story
Ayyan Khan, a 6-year-old boy from Swat, has been suffering from breathlessness and chest discomfort since birth. Activities like running or playing with his friends leave him gasping for air. His skin and lips often take on a bluish color due to a lack of oxygen. Concerned about his deteriorating health, his parents took him to a local hospital. After running some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed Ayyan with Complete Atrioventricular Canal Defect (CAVC), Pulmonary Stenosis (PS), and Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). These are serious congenital defects that disrupt the flow of blood in his body. The doctor recommended Angiography and a CP Shunt through open-heart surgery. However, the cost of these procedures is far beyond what his family can afford.
Without surgery, Ayyan’s condition will worsen, leading to severe breathing difficulties and potential heart failure.
Ayyan lives in a small home with his parents and four siblings. His father works hard at a cloth shop, earning just PKR 25,000 per month to support his family of seven. With four other children to provide for, his income barely covers their basic necessities. They are facing extreme financial hardships and their household expenses leave nothing at the end of the month. The thought of losing their son because they cannot afford the surgery is an unbearable reality they are now facing. During this time of need, Ayyan’s family turned to Transparent Hands and asked for help.
With a heavy heart, Ayyan’s mother shared her pain as follows:
“My son is too young to bear so much suffering. Every day, I see him struggling to breathe, and it breaks my heart. I just want him to have a normal childhood, and to play and grow like other children. But without this surgery, I fear we may lose him. Please help us save our little boy.”

Ayyan Khan's Story
Ayyan Khan, a 6-year-old boy from Swat, had lived his entire life struggling to breathe. Even light activity left Ayyan gasping for air. His parents were heartbroken to see their child’s skin and lips turn blue, a sign that his body wasn’t getting enough oxygen.
Worried about their son’s worsening condition, Ayyan’s parents took him to a local hospital for a complete evaluation. After performing several tests and medical investigations, the doctor diagnosed him with Complete Atrioventricular Canal Defect (CAVC), Pulmonary Stenosis (PS), and Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). These complex congenital heart defects significantly impair the normal flow of oxygenated blood through the body. The doctor recommended angiography followed by a CP Shunt procedure through open-heart surgery. Unfortunately, the cost of these life-saving interventions was far beyond the family’s financial capacity.
Ayyan lives in a small home in Swat with his parents and four siblings. His father works at a shop and earns just PKR 25,000 per month. With a family of seven to support, this limited income barely covers food and utility bills. There was no way they could afford such a costly medical procedure on their own. During this time of need, Ayyan’s parents reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help. Moved by their plea, we registered his case.
On May 7, 2025, Ayyan underwent angiography at Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore. Dr. Asim Khan carefully performed the procedure. Due to high pulmonary artery pressure, Ayyan’s surgery was postponed. The medical team decided to reassess the situation after reviewing the angiography results. Ayyan was discharged in stable condition on May 9, 2025.
His father said:
“Your support brought us comfort when we were extremely concerned about Ayyan’s condition. You gave our child the much-needed care. Thank you for standing by us during such a critical time.”
Thanks to your kindness, Ayyan has received a crucial diagnostic step towards his full treatment. His family remains hopeful as they continue this process with new strength. They are grateful to you for supporting their son’s treatment.
