Alleviate Soni Kalhooro’s Gallbladder Pain

Soni Kalhooro's Story
Soni Kalhooro, a 55-year-old woman from Matiari, Sindh, has been experiencing upper right abdominal pain for the past two years. Every meal is followed by nausea and vomiting, and she also experiences intolerance to fatty foods. Soni has become weak, and her condition occasionally confines her to bed. Recently, she visited a doctor at a local hospital, who performed an ultrasound scan and some lab tests and diagnosed Soni with Gallstones. These are hard mineral deposits that form in the gallbladder. To ease her pain and prevent further complications, her doctor has advised open cholecystectomy. Unfortunately, the cost of the surgery is out of her family’s financial capacity.
Due to poor dietary intake, Soni’s condition will worsen over time. Continued intake of painkillers will disturb her stomach. It may lead to complications like gallbladder infections, bile duct obstruction, and even organ damage.
Soni’s family is facing financial hardships. After her husband’s death a few years ago, she and her daughter have been entirely dependent on their relatives. They don’t even have their own home and currently live at their relatives’ house. Soni receives PKR 5,000 monthly through the Benazir Income Support Program, along with an additional PKR 5,000 provided by her relatives as assistance. The family faces immense financial hardships and has no savings at all. While searching for help, they came across Transparent Hands and requested to have her case registered.
Soni said with teary eyes:
“I lost my husband, which left us dependent on the support of our relatives. Now, the cost of this surgery is a huge financial burden for us. My condition is worsening day by day, and I have no choice but to be patient and bear the pain. I humbly request you to be generous and support my surgery.”

Soni Kalhooro's Story
Soni Kalhooro, a 55-year-old woman from Matiari, Sindh, had been experiencing pain in her upper right abdominal region for the past two years. Every meal brought nausea and vomiting, and she developed a strong intolerance to fatty foods. As time went on, her health continued to decline, leaving her weak and often confined to bed. Concerned about her worsening condition, Soni finally visited a local hospital. After conducting an ultrasound scan and some lab tests, the doctor diagnosed her with gallstones—hard mineral deposits in her gallbladder. To restore her health and relieve her suffering, the doctor recommended an open cholecystectomy. However, the cost of the surgery was overwhelming for her family. After losing her husband a few years ago, Soni and her daughter have been completely dependent on their relatives. They don’t even have a home of their own and live under the roof of their relatives. Her only regular income is PKR 5,000 from the Benazir Income Support Program, along with another PKR 5,000 which her relatives give her out of compassion. This small amount hardly covers basic needs, making it impossible to arrange funds for surgery. At a time when hope seemed out of reach, Soni and her daughter learned about Transparent Hands. With prayers in their hearts, they reached out for help. We listened to their story and promptly registered Soni’s case. On May 19, 2025, Soni was admitted to Isra University Welfare Hospital, Hyderabad. The next day, on May 20, 2025, Dr. Waseem Memon performed her open cholecystectomy, skillfully removing the gallbladder and giving her relief. After receiving the necessary post-operative care, Soni was discharged in good health on May 21, 2025. Expressing her gratitude, Soni said: “I had lost all hope of ever living without pain. Your help has given me back my health and allowed me to recover from this illness. I will always be thankful for your incredible support.” Your kindness has not only brought Soni relief from years of suffering but also filled her family’s hearts with gratitude. They are deeply thankful for your kindness that made this life-changing surgery possible.
