Abdul Rauf's Story
Abdul Rauf, a 44-year-old man from Bhakkar, is slowly losing his ability to see the world around him. Once an active and responsible individual, Abdul Rauf now struggles with dim and blurry vision, making it extremely difficult for him to perform even simple tasks. His deteriorating eyesight took away his ability to work and support his family. Concerned about his worsening condition, he recently visited a local hospital, where a doctor conducted a detailed examination. The doctor diagnosed him with a dislocated lens in the anterior chamber of his left eye.To restore his vision and prevent further complications, the doctor advised him to undergo Left ICCE (Intracapsular Cataract Extraction), Anterior Vitrectomy, and Scleral Fixation of IOL (Intraocular Lens). This surgery is vital for him to regain his sight and resume his life with dignity. However, the financial burden of the procedure is beyond Abdul Rauf’s means.
Without this surgery, Abdul Rauf’s condition may worsen, potentially leading to total blindness in the affected eye, chronic eye pain, or increased risk of corneal damage.
He lives in a small two-room brick house in Bhakkar, shared with his joint family of eleven members, including his wife and two children. Due to his vision impairment, Abdul Rauf is currently unemployed. His brother and niece are the only earning members of the household, but their combined monthly income barely covers their essential needs. With utility bills totaling PKR 8,000 and educational expenses reaching PKR 10,000, managing day-to-day expenses is already a challenge. Affording to pay for Abdul Rauf’s surgery is challenging for them.
Abdul Rauf said in despair:
“I struggle hard to see clearly. Recognizing my loved ones’ faces has become extremely difficult for me. I used to be the one providing for my family, and now I rely on them for everything. I can’t afford this surgery. I humbly ask for your support in undergoing this surgery.”
