Ayat Fatima's Story

Ayat Fatima, a 1-year-old girl from Jhang, had been living in silence since birth. She was unable to respond to voices or sounds around her.  Her parents took her to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a detailed medical evaluation, the doctor diagnosed her with congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss (SNHL) and recommended cochlear implant surgery.  With the help of Transparent Hands, Ayat successfully underwent cochlear implant surgery on April 23, 2025. Ayat can now listen to the sounds, but she lacks the ability to understand and use language. Her doctor has now advised speech therapy sessions to help her learn how to recognize different sounds and eventually speak.

If Ayat does not receive speech therapy, she may struggle to communicate, leaving her isolated despite the successful cochlear implant surgery. Moreover, she may miss the critical period for speech development, making it difficult for her to interact with the world around her.

Unfortunately, Ayat’s family cannot afford the cost of these regular speech therapy sessions. Ayat lives in a modest home with her five family members. Her father, a police employee, is the only breadwinner in the family. Despite working hard and managing basic household expenses, the ongoing cost of Ayat’s therapy is beyond his financial reach. During this time of need, Ayat’s family reached out to Transparent Hands once again and asked for assistance.

Ayat’s family said in despair:

“We are grateful that Ayat can hear now, but she still needs your help to learn how to speak and communicate with us. Speech therapy is essential for her progress, yet we cannot afford the sessions. Please support us in giving our daughter the precious gift of speech.”

Your contributions can play a vital role in helping Ayat take her next steps toward a brighter future. Let’s join hands and support Ayat’s speech therapy so she can grow, learn, and express herself like every child deserves.
