Your Generosity Healed Abu Bakar’s Heart Defects

Abu Bakar's Story

Abu Bakar, a 13-year-old boy from Charsadda, KPK, had lived a life overshadowed by health struggles since birth. Unlike other children of his age, he couldn’t run around freely or play with his friends without quickly becoming breathless. Even slight physical activity left him gasping for air, exhausted, and unable to keep up. Worried about their son’s deteriorating condition, Abu Bakar’s parents took him to a local hospital and consulted a doctor. After a comprehensive examination and a series of diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed Abu Bakar with Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD) and severe Aortic Regurgitation (AR). These are serious heart defects that disrupt the normal flow of oxygenated blood in the body. To give him a chance to survive and have a healthier future, the doctor advised VSD closure surgery.

However, the cost of this life-saving procedure was far beyond the family’s financial capacity. Abu Bakar lives in a small rented house with nine family members. His father, who works as a laborer, earns PKR 40,000 per month. This modest income is insufficient to cover the rent, utility bills, groceries, and educational expenses of the children. The thought of affording such an expensive surgery left the family distressed and hopeless. During their time of need, they reached out to Transparent Hands for assistance. Understanding the gravity of Abu Bakar’s condition, we promptly registered his case.

On June 1, 2025, Abu Bakar was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital in Lahore. On June 2, 2025, Abu Bakar’s heart surgery was performed by Dr. Asim Khan. The surgery went smoothly, and Abu Bakar was discharged in satisfactory condition on June 5, 2025.

Abu Bakar’s parents shared their gratitude in these words:
