Abdul Mateen Will be Missed Dearly
Abdul Mateen's Story
One-year-old Abdul Mateen, a resident of Muzaffargarh, had been suffering from shortness of breath, cyanosis, and repeated episodes of chest infection since birth. His parents noticed his deteriorating health a few months ago and took him to the hospital. After a thorough evaluation and some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with multiple heart conditions, including tricuspid atresia, atrial septal defect, ventricular septal defect, and pulmonary stenosis. He was advised to undergo open heart surgery for a CP shunt. His father was unable to pay for such an expensive procedure. Desperation turned into a flicker of hope when Abdul Mateen’s father reached out to Transparent Hands for financial assistance.
The little boy was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, and his operation was performed by Dr. Asim on 13-04-2023. On the day of surgery, his parents barely contained their mix of emotions—a blend of anxiety, fear, and an overwhelming sense of anticipation. As they waited for news about their child, each second that passed felt like an eternity. Finally, the operation was complete, but as the hours turned into days, the relentless truth revealed itself.
Despite the doctors’ meticulous efforts and the excellent care provided in the ICU, his little heart could not be restored to its former glory. It was a devastating blow, striking his parents’ hearts with an unbearable pain that words could not express. They had fought with every ounce of strength they possessed, their hopes were shattered, and their dreams for their beloved child were slipping away.
Tragically, Abdul Mateen lost his courageous battle on 14-04-2023, succumbing to a sudden cardiopulmonary arrest. The weight of their grief was immeasurable as they mourned the loss of their precious son—a cherished soul whose absence would forever leave an irreplaceable void in their lives. A shining example of love and innocence, Abdul Mateen will be missed dearly.
