Noor Ullah's Story

Noor Ullah, a 48-year-old man from Quetta, had been experiencing chest pain, shortness of breath, and restlessness for four years. With time, his condition worsened, leaving him fatigued, dizzy, and struggling to even carry out simple daily tasks. He went to a nearby hospital and received consultation from a doctor. After performing a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with severe Mitral stenosis and mild Atrial Regurgitation. The doctor recommended mitral valve replacement surgery to save his life. However, the surgical cost was overwhelming for Noor Ullah.

The shocking diagnosis was overwhelming for his family, both emotionally and financially. Living in a joint family of ten family members, Noor Ullah’s financial situation was stretched thin. With no savings to cover the costly surgery, he felt helpless. With hope in his heart, he reached out to Transparent Hands and asked us for help. After listening to his concerns, we swiftly registered his case. Through the generous support of our donors, we arranged surgery for Noor Ullah at one of our panel hospitals.

On 17th May 2024, Noor Ullah was admitted to Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Hospital in Quetta. He received pre-operative care and his surgery took place on 29th May 2024.  Dr. Junaid Ahmad performed his surgery. However, Noor Ullah’s condition was more complex than anticipated. The mitral valve replacement surgery went smoothly, but he faced complications during the recovery process. He had a cardiac arrest, and he was shifted to ICU for due care. He was managed well in the ICU and given the best possible care.  Despite all efforts to save him, Noor Ullah passed away on the path to his recovery.

The loss of Noor Ullah was overwhelming for his family and all of us involved in his care. Though we did everything possible to save him, the complications that arose after surgery were too great to overcome.
