A pre-dawn meal, many hours filled with the remembrance of Allah (SWT) and then breaking the fast. This is all that the holy month of Ramadan is all about. The spiritual dimensions of this holy month need many volumes to be described entirely. Hence, in today s discussion, we will concern ourselves only with the physical benefits of fasting. Ramadan is nearly upon us. Once more, many Muslims will fast without realizing the health benefits of fasting. We thought it would be prudent to recall, some of the health benefits of fasting. Not many of us can claim with confidence that we have no become addicted to fast food. Junk food has become a part of our meals. Not a day passes without us consuming it in any form. The ultimate result of this overconsumption of fried, fatty brands of food is disastrous. Our bodies have become riddled with all sorts of food additives, colors, and preservatives. Ultimately, these assume the form of toxins in the body. These are stored in fat. Now, fasting provides us with a chance to burn, not only our sins but also a bit of fat.
