Eight months old, Muhammad Ahmed, a resident of Karachi suffers from a congenital heart defect. Previously, he often fell ill due to unknown. These episodes made his parents very concerned. Out of this concern and worry, they took him for a consultation. After being evaluated by a Cardiologist Ahmad was advised to go through a series of tests. After the evaluation of the medical reports, Muhammad Ahmed was diagnosed with Patent Ductus Arteriosus (PDA).
Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital condition in which the ductus arteriosus fails to close after birth: this allows a portion of oxygenated blood from the left heart to flow back to the lungs by streaming from the aorta, which has a higher pressure, to the pulmonary artery. After the diagnosis, the cardiologist suggested Muhammad Ahmed to undergo an Open Heart Surgery.
Ahmed’s father is a clerk and earns PKR. 18000 a month. He lives in a rented house with his five children and wife. In these gloomy circumstance, it is impossible for him to afford the hefty cost of Muhammad Ahmed’s procedure. Muhammad Ahmed’s mother shared her pain in the following words:
“ It aches my heart to the core to see my baby going through so much at such a tender age. I pray no parent gets to see their child suffering like this. I have all my hopes tied to Transparent Hands now for assistance.”

Muhammad Ahmad's Story
Muhammad Ahmed, an eight-month-old resident of Karachi, was born with a congenital heart defect. Upon diagnosis, he was diagnosed with Coronary Heart Defect. The doctor advised Muhammad Ahmed to undergo an Open-heart Surgery. For this purpose, he was sent to The Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi to get his surgery by Dr. Waris on 13-10-2021. His surgery was successful. He was discharged after three days of hospital stay in a satisfactory condition. Ahmed’s heart is now saved because of your donations.
