Shumaila Abid's Story

Shumaila Abid, an 18-year-old resident of Layyah, Pakistan is facing an uphill battle with her health. She experiences shortness of breath, rapid breathing, fatigue, poor growth, and struggles with weight gain. After a comprehensive evaluation, doctors diagnosed Shumaila with a ventricular septal defect (VSD), a condition that requires urgent medical attention. The recommended course of treatment is a VSD closure surgery, which will give Shumaila a chance at a healthier and more fulfilling life. However, the financial burden of the surgery is overwhelming for her family.

Shumaila’s father, a hardworking individual, feels utterly helpless as he watches his daughter suffer. As the sole breadwinner earning just PKR 20,000, he struggles to support a family of six members. They live in a rented house in a modest neighborhood in Layyah. After paying the rent and utility bills, he barely has any money left to put food on the table. There’s no way he can afford the costly expenses of the cardiac surgery his daughter needs to survive.

With a heavy heart, he appeals to compassionate and kind donors, saying,

“My daughter’s health has been deteriorating, and it breaks my heart to see her struggle. We are unable to bear the cost of the surgery on our own. I humbly request your support to give Shumaila a chance at a brighter future.”

Transparent Hands, dedicated to providing surgical and medical assistance to those in need, has taken up Shumaila’s case. We are committed to ensuring she receives the best possible care. However, we cannot fulfill our mission without the support of kind-hearted individuals like you.
