Bibi Farishta's Story

Bibi Farishta has been unable to hear properly for the last ten years. She suffers from severe ear pain which causes her a lot of discomfort. Bibi Farishta awaits tympanoplasty, so donate as much as you can to ease her pain.

Bibi Farishta, a twelve-year-old resident of Balochistan, has been suffering from ear discharge and decreased hearing ability for the last ten years. She went to some local doctors and they gave her painkillers, but this treatment did not cure her disease. She went to an ENT specialist for consultation and underwent some diagnostic tests. After the evaluation, Farishta was diagnosed with Bilateral Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM). Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM) is caused due to perforation of the eardrum with persistent drainage from the middle ear. To treat this condition, the doctor advised Farishta to undergo a Bilateral Tympanoplasty. Tympanoplasty is a surgery to repair the eardrum. The eardrum is a thin layer of tissue that vibrates in response to sound. This procedure is crucial for Farishta as her hearing ability is deteriorating drastically. Unfortunately, they are unable to afford this operation.

Farishta’s father is a laborer and earns just PKR 20,000 monthly, which is hardly enough to meet the basic needs of the family. With a family of 12 members to support, it is impossible for him to bear the expense of this procedure. Farishta shared with us:

“I have been suffering from this pain for the last ten years. Whenever I go to any gathering, I am embarrassed due to this ear discharge. It is not only causing me pain but also depression. Please help me through this dark period of my life.”

Bibi Farishta's Story

Bibi Farishta, a 12-year-old resident of Pasheen, Balochistan, had been suffering from chronic inflammation and discharge from the ear for the last ten years. Upon consultation, she was diagnosed with Bilateral Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media (CSOM). The doctor advised her to undergo Bilateral Tympanoplasty. She was admitted to Patel Hospital, Karachi, where her operation was performed by Dr.Nabeel on 05-07-2022. Her operation was successful and she was discharged after two days of stay in the hospital. She has recovered now.
