Bring Back Irshad’s Eyesight with Cataract Surgery

Irshad Masih's Story
Irshad Masih, a 43-year-old man from Lahore, is experiencing blurry vision and difficulty in seeing clearly. Due to his impaired vision, he is unable to perform well at work. Moreover, recognizing loved ones, walking, or even carrying out his routine tasks have become challenging for him. Concerned for his worsening eyesight, Irshad visited a local hospital. After a thorough examination, the doctor diagnosed him with bilateral cataract, a condition where the lens of the eye becomes cloudy, leading to a gradual loss of vision. However, his right eye is more affected than the left one. Therefore, his doctor has advised him to undergo a right-sided Phacoemulsification (Phaco) with Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation, which is necessary to restore his vision.
If left untreated, his cataract will continue to worsen. It may possibly lead to complete blindness.
Irshad is a painter by profession. However, due to his deteriorating eyesight, he can no longer work regularly and only manages to earn around PKR 7,000 per month. To support the family, his wife works as a domestic helper, bringing home PKR 8,000 each month. They live together in Irshad’s parents’ modest house, along with their four children, who depend on them for everything. Their combined income is still insufficient to manage daily expenses and bear the cost of the surgery.
Irshad shared his plea as follows:
“My work depends on my sight. I worry about my children’s future and how long I’ll be able to provide for them. Kindly help me see the world clearly.”
This surgery is crucial not only to restore Irshad’s vision but also to secure the future of his family. Your generous support can help Irshad regain his sight, return to his profession with confidence, and care for his family without fear.
Your healthcare donations can be the light that guides Irshad back to a life of independence and hope.
