Bring Sounds into Affan’s World with Hearing Aids

Affan Waseem's Story
Affan Waseem, an 8-year-old boy from Multan, has been suffering from hearing loss since birth. Unlike other children of his age who enjoy cherished moments of their childhood, Affan often sits quietly, trying to understand the conversations around him. Concerned for his development, Affan’s parents took him to a doctor who ran detailed hearing assessments. After thorough testing, the doctor diagnosed him with congenital hearing loss and recommended hearing aids. With these devices, Affan would finally be able to hear clearly and joyfully respond to his parents’ voices.
Affan previously received hearing aids, which enabled him to start speaking. However, he now needs new ones to listen to different sounds, and the cost of these hearing aids is beyond his family’s reach.
Without timely access to these hearing aids, he may lose the opportunity to learn how to hear and speak properly. His chances of developing speech and language skills are greater if he receives these hearing aids on time.
Affan lives with his parents, three siblings, and three family members in their rented home. His father owns a small mobile repair shop. He barely covers their house rent of PKR 2500 and utility bills amounting to PKR 8000. Additionally, the educational needs of Affan and his siblings amount to PKR 10,000 monthly. With a family of nine to support, every rupee is carefully stretched just to keep food on the table and the children in school. During this time of need, Affan’s family contacted Transparent Hands and asked for help.
Affan’s parents said in despair:
“It’s painful watching Affan try so hard to understand us. He looks at our faces with a blank expression and often ends up confused. As parents, we want him to hear and speak. We need your help to give him this gift of hearing.”
Even a small act of generosity today can help Affan hear life’s beautiful sounds and move towards a hopeful future. We ask you to be generous and contribute for Affan’s hearing aids.
