Change Ashfaq’s Life with an Artificial Leg

Muhammad Ashfaq's Story
Muhammad Ashfaq, a 35-year-old resident of Pakpattan, is facing a challenging moment in his life. He had a road traffic accident, resulting in a crush injury to his left leg. His family took him to a nearby hospital. The doctor performed a thorough examination and decided to amputate his left leg above the knee level. Ashfaq was an active man, but now he struggles to stand and walk. After losing his leg, his life has been filled with hardships and challenges. His doctor advised an above-knee prosthesis to restore his ability to walk. However, the cost of an artificial leg is out of his financial reach.
Due to the amputation, simple activities like walking around the home, and getting in and out of bed have become increasingly difficult for him. If Ashfaq doesn’t get the prosthesis, he will face a future where he has to depend on others for support, and his emotional state will continue to deteriorate.
Ashfaq lives in a modest home with his wife and two young children who are currently studying. He is the sole breadwinner in the family and works at a mobile repair shop, bringing in just PKR 15000. With this meager monthly income, he hardly manages to pay PKR 2500 for utility bills, in addition to educational expenses and groceries. The cost of the prosthetic leg is overwhelming for him, leaving him in a desperate situation. During this dark time, Ashfaq turned to Transparent Hands and asked us for assistance.
Ashfaq said with teary eyes:
“After losing my leg, I dream of walking again with an artificial leg. But it’s beyond my reach. I can’t explain how helpless I feel with each passing day. I need your support to regain my independence.”
An artificial leg would change Ashfaq’s life. It would allow him to regain his independence and live a life without the constant burden of his disability. We need your contributions to help Ashfaq. Your support will allow him to reclaim his life and restore his dignity.
Let’s join hands and be a light in Ashfaq’s darkest hour.

Muhammad Ashfaq's Story
Muhammad Ashfaq, a 35-year-old man from Pakpattan, had a traffic accident, which resulted in a severe crush injury to his left leg. His family took him to a nearby hospital. After a thorough examination, the doctors made the difficult decision to amputate his left leg above the knee to save his life. Once an active and independent man, Ashfaq’s life changed dramatically after losing his leg. Everyday tasks became significantly challenging, and his mobility was severely restricted. To help him regain his mobility and independence, his doctor recommended an above-knee prosthesis. However, the cost of the prosthesis was far beyond Ashfaq’s financial means.
Ashfaq lived in a modest home with his wife and two young children. As the sole breadwinner for his family, he worked at a small mobile repair shop, earning just PKR 15,000 per month. His income was barely enough to cover the household expenses. Affording the high cost of a prosthetic leg was impossible for him. Faced with these overwhelming challenges, Ashfaq turned to Transparent Hands for assistance. Moved by his plight, Transparent Hands registered his case.
On December 30, 2024, Ashfaq’s above-knee prosthetic leg was fitted at Hope Rehabilitation Center, Lahore. This procedure was carried out under the skilled supervision of Dr. Khalid Niaz.
Ashfaq felt immense joy as he took his first steps toward a new beginning. Ashfaq expressed his heartfelt gratitude as follows:
“I never thought I would walk again, but your kindness has given me a new and more meaningful life. Thank you for helping me stand on my feet once more and giving my family hope for a better future. May you be blessed for your generosity.”
Today, Ashfaq’s quality of life has significantly improved. He can walk, perform daily tasks independently, and provide better care for his family. His restored mobility has given him confidence and new hope. His family extends their deepest gratitude to you for helping Ashfaq.
