Muhammad Mahad's Story

Muhammad Mahad, a 1-year-old boy from Bahawalpur, has been fighting for his life since birth. His tiny chest rises and falls with difficulty, struggling to take in each breath. Even the simplest movements leave him breathless and weak. His parents watched in despair as he failed to gain weight like other children of his age. Concerned for their little boy’s health, they took him to a local hospital. After a thorough evaluation, the doctor diagnosed him with pulmonary hypertension and a large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD)—a serious heart condition that affects blood flow and makes his heart work harder than it should. The doctor has advised VSD closure surgery to save his life. However, the surgical cost is out of his family’s reach.

If Mahad does not undergo this surgery, his condition will continue to worsen. His heart may struggle to pump blood efficiently, leading to severe complications such as heart failure and irreversible lung damage.

Mahad lives in a small house with his parents and two school-going siblings. Due to visual impairment, his father is unable to work and provide for the family. His mother works hard as a seamstress and earns a modest income of PKR 20,000 per month. After paying for utility bills and educational expenses, they are left with barely enough to cover even basic needs. Their financial constraints make it impossible for them to bear the heavy cost of Mahad’s surgery. During this challenging time, Mahad’s parents contacted Transparent Hands and asked for assistance.

With a heavy heart, Mahad’s mother shared her emotions as follows:

“I spend every night praying for my son’s life. He struggles to breathe, and I feel helpless knowing I cannot afford the surgery that will save him. No mother should have to watch her child suffer like this. Please save my child.”

Mahad’s survival depends on this much-needed medical intervention. Your support can give him the chance to have a healthy and happy childhood, free from pain and breathlessness.

Join hands with us to heal Mahad’s tiny heart and fill his future with laughter and joy.

Muhammad Mahad's Story

Muhammad Mahad, a 1-year-old boy from Bahawalpur, had been battling a life-threatening heart condition since the day he was born. Even the slightest activity left him drained and gasping for air. His constant weakness was a cause of deep concern for his parents. Desperate for answers, they took him to a nearby hospital, where a doctor performed a thorough examination and diagnosed Mahad with pulmonary hypertension and a large Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD). The doctors advised VSD closure surgery as the only way to save him. However, affording this critical surgery was impossible for his family.

Mahad lived in a humble home with his parents and two school-going siblings. His father, who is visually impaired, is unable to earn a living. His mother works as a seamstress and earns only PKR 20,000 per month, which is barely enough to cover basic household needs. With no savings and rising medical expenses, the family found themselves in a heartbreaking situation. Just when hope seemed to fade, they learned about Transparent Hands and reached out for help. Moved by their plea, Transparent Hands registered his case.

With the support of generous donors and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation, Mahad was admitted to Ittefaq Hospital, Lahore, on March 4, 2025. On March 5, 2025, Dr. Asim skillfully performed the VSD closure surgery. After receiving specialized postoperative care, Mahad was discharged in stable condition on March 9, 2025.

Mahad’s parents were happy and said:

“We were drowning in fear and helplessness, but your support brought light into our darkest days. Mahad is now breathing with ease and has a second chance at life. Thank you for standing by us and saving our son.”

Your kindness gave Mahad the gift of a healthy heart.

His family extends their heartfelt thanks to you and the Pakistan Children’s Heart Foundation for making his surgery possible.
