Shahnaz Mumtaz's Story

Shahnaz Mumtaz, a 9-year-old girl from Multan, has been experiencing poor vision. As her eyesight weakens, it is becoming increasingly difficult for Shahnaz to carry out her daily activities. Her parents took her to see a doctor, who diagnosed her with a cataract in her left eye.

The doctor recommended Lense Matter Aspiration (LMA) with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation as the most effective treatment to restore her vision. Unfortunately, the cost of this surgical procedure is beyond her family’s financial means.

Without the surgery, her vision loss may increase, leading to complete blindness. The condition may also mean that Shahnaz will be increasingly dependent on her family for her daily activities, hence deteriorating her quality of life.

Shahnaz lives in a modest house. Her father is a laborer who earns only PKR 15,000 per month and supports eight family members. He pays PKR 3000 in educational expenses and PKR 2000 in utility bills. This meager income hardly covers their basic expenses, making Shahnaz’s surgery impossible to afford.

 Her family said:

“Every day the world becomes a little less clear with her worsening eyesight. She can’t even see us anymore. We are very worried about her. She needs surgery to return to her normal life. Please help us as much as possible.”

Your donations can improve Shahnaz’s quality of life significantly. Every contribution will bring her closer to a healthier future filled with hope and opportunities. Let’s support Shahnaz, who would love to see her parent’s sadness and concerns turn into joy. Contribute now.

Shahnaz Mumtaz's Story

Shahnaz Mumtaz, a 9-year-old girl from Multan, was suffering from visual impairment. Over time, her ability to see clearly was affected so much that she began struggling with everyday tasks. Concerned about their daughter’s condition, Shahnaz’s parents took her to a local hospital. After a thorough examination and diagnostic tests, the doctor confirmed that she had developed a cataract in her left eye. The doctor recommended Lens Matter Aspiration (LMA) followed by Intraocular Lens (IOL) implantation as the best course of treatment to prevent further complications. However, her family couldn’t afford the surgery.

Shahnaz’s father, a hardworking laborer, earned just PKR 15,000 per month and was responsible for supporting a family of eight members. His income barely covered their food, utility bills, and other daily essentials. The cost of the surgery was simply out of reach for them. Shahnaz’s parents were heartbroken at the thought of their daughter continuing to suffer due to financial constraints. During this time of despair, Shahnaz’s family reached out to Transparent Hands for help. After carefully reviewing her case, we registered her case.

With the generous support of our donors, Shahnaz was admitted to Bakhtawar Amin Memorial Teaching Hospital in Multan. On January 29, 2025, Dr. Hassan successfully performed her LMA with IOL implantation.

Shahnaz’s father said with happiness: “With your support, my daughter can see the world again. We had lost all hope, but your kindness has brought light back into her life. We will always remember this generosity.”

Today, Shahnaz is recovering, with a bright future ahead of her. Your generosity has given her a chance to live a fuller and happier life. She can now see her loved ones’ faces and play with her friends. This change in her life was made possible through your generous support and her family is incredibly grateful to you.
