Fozia Israr's Story

Fozia Israr, a 45-year-old woman from Karachi, is suffering from heavy menstrual bleeding, weakness, and tiredness. She faces difficulty in carrying out routine tasks like managing her household, caring for her children, and fulfilling her responsibilities as a housewife. Fozia went to a local hospital and consulted a doctor, who conducted an ultrasound scan and some lab tests and diagnosed Fozia with uterine fibroids. These are non-cancerous growths that develop in the uterus. To relieve her pain and improve her quality of life, her doctor advised a hysterectomy – surgery to remove the uterus. However, the surgical cost is out of her family’s reach.

If Fozia doesn’t get the surgery, she may continue to experience ongoing symptoms like heavy bleeding and pelvic pain. The fibroids can grow and may develop into cancer. Additionally, there may be other risks of complications such as anemia.

Fozia lives in a small brick house with her husband and two school-going children. Her husband works as a security guard at a private firm, earning a monthly income of PKR 20,000. With this meager monthly income, they hardly cover utility bills of PKR 4000 and educational expenses amounting to PKKR 3000 per month. In addition, the staggering loan of PKR 300,000 further complicates their ability to pay for the surgery. During this challenging time, Fozia reached out to Transparent Hands and asked for help.

Fozia said in despair:

“I am scared about my health and want to be well again. My husband is doing everything he can to make ends meet, but the cost of the surgery is far beyond what he can afford. I humbly request you to please help me overcome this illness.”

We have registered Fozia’s case and need your contributions to bring happiness into Fozia’s home. Her heart is filled with concerns and she believes that with your support her life can be changed. Together, we can turn her pain and discomfort into healing and relief.

Fozia Israr's Story

Fozia Israr, a 48-year-old woman from Karachi, had been struggling with heavy menstrual bleeding for a long time. The condition left her physically drained and often confined her to bed. She also experienced persistent tiredness and weakness, which made it difficult for her to manage household responsibilities and care for her two children. As her condition worsened, Fozia visited a local hospital to seek help. After a detailed examination and several tests, the doctor diagnosed her with uterine fibroids—a condition where noncancerous growths develop in the uterus. To relieve her symptoms and prevent further health complications, the doctor advised a hysterectomy.

However, the cost of the surgery was far beyond what Fozia’s family could afford. She lived in a small, one-room brick house with her husband and two children. Her husband worked as a security guard at a private company and earned just PKR 20,000 per month. Most of his earnings were spent on rent, utility bills, and the children’s education. With no savings at all, the family was in desperate need of assistance. During their time of need, they reached out to Transparent Hands. After understanding her condition and financial background, we promptly registered her case and arranged her surgery.

On February 13, 2025, Fozia was admitted to Murshid Hospital in Karachi. Dr. Farkhanda Saeed skillfully performed the hysterectomy, successfully removing the fibroids and relieving Fozia from her ongoing suffering. She was closely monitored during her recovery and discharged in stable condition on February 17, 2025.

Fozia shared her heartfelt gratitude as follows:

“Living in constant pain made me forget what happiness felt like. After the surgery, I wake up every day with a smile, free from the burden of my illness. You gave me the greatest gift, and I am immensely grateful to you for your kindness.”

Thanks to your support, Fozia is now recovering well and enjoying a life free from the pain and discomfort that once held her back.

She and her family thank you for being a source of hope during their time of need.
