Abdul Wahab's Story

Help this poor child who is unable to live a normal life due to his Hirschsprung Disease!

Abdul Wahab is a 4 years old boy who lives in a small town in Gujranwala with his parents and 2 sisters. Abdul Wahab is a very active child but he has been unable to play or perform any activity due to his disease. When Abdul was born, he was diagnosed with Hirschsprung disease – a condition that affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. The condition is present at birth (congenital) as a result of missing nerve cells in the muscles of the baby’s colon.

He was only 14 days old when he underwent his first surgery “Ileostomy” at a local hospital. He suffered from dead intestine and severe abdominal pain and constipation due to which his surgery was conducted in emergency. Doctor advised his parents to prepare Abdul Wahab for another surgery. Four years have passed but the hospital didn’t give any surgery date to him yet. His parents requested them many times but they are unable to give date for free surgical treatment due to long waiting list. Abdul Wahab cannot wait anymore for his surgery. His health is deteriorating with each passing day. He often cries due to severe abdominal pain. His parents are unable to take him out due to his stool bag which is attached to his abdomen. They cannot take him to private hospital for surgical treatment due to lack of resources. Luckily, they came to know about Transparent Hands through an old patient and they immediately came here.

Abdul Wahab is now scheduled for his Duhamel surgery in a few days at Akram Medical Complex. His surgery will not be possible without your generous support. His parents say that, “we are really very worried for our son’s health. Please help him so that he can start going to school with his sisters”.

Abdul Wahab's Story

Abdul Wahab 10 years old boy had his colostomy made in an emergency surgery on 14th day of his life for intestinal obstruction due to Hirschsprung’s disease. He was advised another surgery to reverse this temporary opening for passage of stools. His surgery was done in Akram Medical Complex on 25-10-18 by Dr. Naveed Haider. His colostomy was closed by Duhamel pull through surgery and intestinal continuity was restored. His postoperative course was complicated by anastomotic dehiscence for which his re-exploratory laparotomy was done. The intestinal anastomosis was repaired and reinforced. He stayed for 11 days in hospital. His condition improved and he recovered well. He was discharged in good health.
