Daulat Bibi's Story

Daulat Bibi is 62 years old poor woman who is living her life in utter distress. Her husband died around 28 years ago leaving her alone to survive on her own. She has 3 married daughters who are living separately with their families. None of them has room to keep their mother with them. In such an old age, Daulat Bibi is working as a maid in someone’s home and is earning only 7,000 rupees a month. These days, she is unable to work actively because of her increasing abdominal pain.

Daulat Bibi has been experiencing epigastric pain for 2 years. After a few checkups at local hospitals, she was diagnosed with cholelithiasis. Doctor advised her to undergo surgery to remove the gallbladder. Daulat Bibi doesn’t have enough resources to get herself operated. She is living with her brother’s family in a small house but nobody is willing to help her in such tough time. Even her daughters are unable to support their old mother. Daulat Bibi is unable to go to work and earn for herself these days due to severe pain and vomiting.
