Dua Fatima's Story

“When I first held Dua, her face was glowing with a beautiful smile. But, in a span of just few days, her smiles were replaced by endless painful cries. My daughter has a severe heart defect and she is fighting with this since she was born 5 months ago.” – Dua’s mother

Our 5 months old daughter is suffering from congenital heart defect PDA (abnormal blood flow that occurs between two of the major arteries connected to the heart). She is severely underweight and in constant pain. We are struggling to find the means to treat her but we fail every time.

Dua’s father works as a cook and earns only 25,000 rupees a month. In such meagre income, it is hard for him to take care of his family of 6 members and also pay for Dua’s treatment. This family has some savings but they have exhausted all on hospital visits and medicines for Dua. Doctor has recommended her parents to prepare her for urgent heart surgery to correct the defect. Dua experiences fever and breathing difficulty all the time due to which she cannot even sleep. Her parents are really worried for her health. They contacted many institutes for free surgery but nobody gave them positive response. Finally, they came to Transparent Hands and were relieved to know that their daughter can now undergo surgery and live a normal life.

Dua is now scheduled for her heart surgery in Ittefaq Hospital but her struggles don’t end here. She needs your support in her life-saving surgery. A little delay in treatment can take her life.
