Abdullah Mavia, a 9-year-old resident of Sialkot, has been suffering from shortness of breath, cyanosis, and repeated episodes of chest pain. His parents learned about his condition when he was 2 years old and took him to the local hospital. After a thorough evaluation and some diagnostic tests, the doctor diagnosed him with multiple heart conditions including Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA), Ventricular Septal Defect (VSD), and Pulmonary Valve Stenosis (PS). His first surgery was done with Rastelli operation – an open heart surgery – five years ago. For the last few months, he has suffered from the same symptoms again. Upon consultation, the cardiologist diagnosed him with Conduit Stenosis and severe Left Ventricular Outflow Tract Obstruction (LVOTO). The cardiac surgeon advised him to undergo Redo Rastelli operation, Change of Conduit, and LVOTO Resection to give him a chance at a healthy life.

He is living with his parents and four siblings in a rented house. His father is the family’s only breadwinner and earns PKR 22,500 per month. His family is leading a hand-to-mouth life. His father’s income is not enough to cover the surgical expenses, and they desperately need help. His father said in a depressed tone:

“My dear son is battling with his life and only your donations can provide him a chance to overcome his heart ailment.”

He underwent a Rastelli operation five years ago, but in recent months he began experiencing the same symptoms again. A cardiologist diagnosed him with conduit stenosis and severe LVOTO, and a cardiac surgeon recommended a Redo Rastelli operation, conduit replacement, and LVOTO resection.
