Ahmad Raza's Story
Ahmad Raza, 6 years old, was diagnosed with a condition called anal atresia at the time of his birth. It is a congenital abnormality in which the opening at the end of the digestive tract is absent. This means that the anus is not present. This defect is categorized as an anorectal malformation. To help work his bowel, a colostomy surgery was performed by the doctors after one day of Ahmad’s birth. In this particular procedure, the surgeon diverted one end of the colon through an incision in the abdominal wall to create a stoma. The doctor also prescribed medicines for him and he underwent fortnightly checkup after the initial surgery. Later, another surgery called PSARP was advised for Ahmad. A PSARP procedure is used to fix anorectal malformations in children. In this technique, the surgeon surgically creates the anus within the sphincter muscle. Ahmad’s family visited the hospital multiple times, but they were made to revisit the hospital again and again without any definitive date for surgery.
His father cannot afford the prescribed surgery in a private hospital since he works as a laborer and earns only PKR 15,000 per month.
“We have taken our baby to the hospital countless times, but we still did not get a date for his surgery. As parents, we cannot bear to see him in pain. We wish for our difficult time to end and for our child to start living a happy and healthy life. We do not want to visit hospitals anymore.”– says Ahmad’s father while sobbing
A family friend told them about Transparent Hands. Ahmad’s parents were over the moon to hear that the organization would help them get their son’s surgery for free. They immediately registered with us and we have taken up their case.
Now, the final step of this process depends on your financial aid. Your donations would help Ahmad have his PSARP surgery for free. Therefore, do not think twice and make an invaluable impact in his life by making a generous donation for him.

Ahmad Raza's Story
Ahmad Raza, aged 6 years, was born with an anorectal malformation (ARM) called anal atresia. A colostomy was performed on the second day of his life and a stoma was placed. Later, on a follow-up appointment, the consultants advised another surgery to make his back passage. For this purpose, Ahmad Raza was admitted to Akram Medical Complex and his Posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty (PSARP) was performed by Dr. M. Bilal Mirza on 25.02.2021. He stayed in the hospital for six days and was discharged in a stable condition. Ahmad Raza’s post-operative recovery has been remarkable. His parents are satisfied with his treatment regime.
