For the last nine years, Ali Raza has been suffering from immense pain in his hip joints. Over the years, the pain has worsened to the point where he is unable to walk without support. After tests and investigations, he was diagnosed with Hip Ankylosis. It is the stiffness of a joint due to abnormal adhesion and rigidity of the bones of the joint. Moreover, Ali suffers from an Abducted Hip as well.

To treat these conditions, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised Ali Raza to undergo Total Hip Replacement Surgery for his right hip joint. Hip replacement is a surgical procedure in which the doctor replaces the hip joint with a prosthetic implant. While this surgery promises a pain-free future to Ali Raza, it is certainly not an affordable procedure. Unfortunately, Ali Raza cannot bear the hefty cost of this surgery. Ali’s father works as a rickshaw and trolley driver. He hardly manages to earn PKR 18000 per month. With this income, he cannot afford to pay for his son’s surgical treatment. He told us:

Ali Raza's Story

Ali Raza, aged 32, a resident of Bhawalnagar was diagnosed to be suffering from B/L Hip joint pain for the past few years. The doctors advised him, right total hip replacement surgery. For this purpose, Ali Raza was admitted to PSRD, Lahore where his surgery was performed by Dr. Saleem Bashir on 07.08.2021. He stayed in the hospital for four days and was discharged in a stable condition. The constant pain and discomfort that Ali Raza once complained of has subsided since he has had the surgery. In this brief time, he is now able to walk long distances and occasionally climbs stairs as well.
