Ali Hassan's Story

Ali Hassan, aged two and a half, is a resident of Lahore. Ali was born with anorectal malformation (ARM) which is also known as imperforate anus (IA). It is a condition characterized by the malformation of the rectum and the anus. Symptoms may include absence of the first stool within 24 to 48 hours after birth, no anal opening, anal opening, and swollen belly. In Ali’s case, the anal passage is absent since birth and on the third day of his life, a Colostomy stoma was made to assist him temporarily with stool passage. He now requires to undergo posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP). A PSARP is a type of pull-through procedure that surgically creates the child’s anus within the sphincter muscle. Ali Hassan’s mother narrates their painful journey in the following manner:

“Ali, our child is a gift of God. But ever since his birth we are circling the hospitals for routine and emergency check-ups. My husband is a labourer, and he earns only PKR. 15,000. With a family of six members to provide for, it is almost impossible to afford treatment for our son. I want him to have a healthy, happy life, like his other two siblings. Connection with Transparent Hands has given me some hope. I pray for our goal to be materialized sooner.”

Luckily, now that Ali Hassan and his family have been connected with Transparent Hands, you can make this procedure possible. Generously, Donate for Ali Hassan’s posterior sagittal anorectoplasty (PSARP) , and assist him in cherishing his life like his siblings.
