For the last one year, Allah Dita had been suffering from severe abdominal pain. Due to the COVID outbreak, he did not consult a doctor and took medicines for symptomatic relief. When the pain persisted, he went to the nearest hospital where the doctor diagnosed him with a Paraumbilical Hernia. A Paraumbilical Hernia is a hole in the connective tissue. If the hole is large enough there can be protrusion of the abdominal contents.
To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Allah Dita for a Mesh Hernioplasty. Mesh hernioplasty is probably the safest way of treating a hernia. Surgical meshes are made of biological material and are placed in a manner such that they support the damaged tissue. While there is no doubt about the effectiveness of this surgical procedure, the fact that it is an expensive procedure cannot be denied as well.
Unfortunately, Allah Dita cannot afford the hefty cost of the surgery. Due to his withering age and deteriorating health, Allah Dita cannot work anymore. Therefore, he is financially dependent on his son. He works as a clerk and hardly manages to earn PKR 20,000 per month. This income is barely enough to keep the household running. Therefore, he cannot afford his father’s surgery. He told us:
“It kills me to see my father in this much pain and distress. Despite his age, my father was very active, very talkative. Now, he spends his time bedridden. Please help my father get better.”

Allah Dita's Story
One year ago, Allah Dita, aged 60 years, a resident of Kotlakhpat felt pain in the abdomen. Initially, Allah Dita got the symptomatic treatment but it couldn’t cure him and the pain became unbearable. After evaluation, the doctors diagnosed him with a Paraumbilical Hernia. The doctor advised him to undergo mesh Hernioplasty. For this reason, Allah Dita was admitted to Akram Medical Complex and the surgery was performed by Dr. Ahmed Fawad on 03.08.2021. He stayed in the hospital for one day and was discharged in a stable condition. Allah Dita is delighted to be able to walk without the severe pain he was facing for a year.
