Syed Ameer Shah's Story

Before you dive into Ameer’s tale of woes, please know that your help can save him from his pain. Your donation will help Ameer walk again. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Ameer’s knee replacement.

For the last two years, Ameer had been suffering from severe pain in his knees. At first, he did not pay much attention to it, but, gradually the pain increased to a point of no return. Moreover, he was unable to walk or stand up without help. Upon consultation, the doctor diagnosed him with bilateral osteoarthritis. Osteoarthritis is a condition that causes the cartilage in the knee joint to thin out. In consequence, the surfaces of the joint become roughened, thus creating friction. Apart from this, he had also suffered a fracture of left tibia. As a result, the movement becomes painful, and the joint becomes stiff. Due to this condition, Ameer Shah is not able to get up or walk. Moreover, the pain has become unbearable for him.

To treat this, the orthopaedic surgeon has advised Ameer Shah to undergo a left tibia plating surgery. It is a surgical procedure to replace the weight-bearing surfaces of the knee joint to relieve pain and disability.

Ameer Shah cannot afford the hefty cost of a tibia plating surgery. He works in the farms and hardly earns PKR 15000 per month. His son told us:

“My father is the most patient man I have ever seen. He is in immense pain right now but he says nothing but words of gratitude all day. Help us get him rid of his pain.”

We cannot even imagine the pain Ameer Shah is in. But, we can empathize with him for sure. He has finally registered his case with Transparent Hands. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Ameer’s left tibia plating as much as you can. Our help will get him back up on his feet in no time.

Syed Ameer Shah's Story

Syed Ameer Shah, aged 78 years, suffered from intense pain and swelling in both of his knees for the last two years. The doctors that consulted him diagnosed him with osteoarthritis in both knees. He was given pain killers that provided temporary relief. However, as the situation got worse, he was advised to undergo surgical intervention for joint replacement. For this purpose, he was admitted to Northwest General Hospital. Upon re-evaluation and repeated x-rays, his left tibia was found to have an old non united fracture. Ameer’s surgical plan was changed and his open reduction and internal fixation (ORIF) of tibia was done with plate along with bone grafting (BG). His surgery was performed by Dr. Khushnood Ali on 30-04-2021. He stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a stable condition. Ameer is taking bed rest as advised by his doctor so that he can take long walks once he recovers.
