Imagine the discomfort of a seasonal cold and the ways it pulls the plug on your daily routine. You feel dizzy all the time, unable to sleep or work. The entire course of the day gets disrupted. Moreover, sleep doesn’t come as a relief either, as you constantly shift sides to find a comfortable position to breathe freely. Eighteen-year-old Amjad Ali has been living with these symptoms for the last three years. The doctor diagnosed his condition as DNS. DNS is a deviation of the nasal septum from the normal center of the nasal cavity. This causes nasal obstruction and blockage of the upper respiratory tract.

To treat this condition, the doctor has advised him to undergo submucosal resection (SMR) surgery. This is a procedure to correct the deformity of the nasal septum so that air through the nasal passages can flow freely. Unfortunately, Amjad Ali cannot afford the hefty cost of surgery. Amjad is a student and financially dependent on his father. His father works as a medical representative and earns just PKR 25,000 per month. He told us:

Amjad Ali's Story

Amjad Ali, an 18-year-old resident of Tando Allahyar, had been suffering from terrible headaches and difficulty in breathing for the past three years. But it was only recently that the pain became excruciating. He was diagnosed with Deviated Nasal Septum when he consulted an ENT surgeon, who advised him to undergo Submucosal Resection. However, because Amjad Ali is a student and his family's financial situation is precarious, they were unable to afford the treatment. Amjad heard about Transparent Hands and reached out to us. On February 25th, 2022, we sent him to ISRA University Hospital where his surgery was performed by Dr. Amrat Kumar. His procedure went well, and he stayed in the hospital for four days before being discharged in good health. He is now recovering well.
