Amna Khan's Story

Before you read about the details of Amna Khan’s ailments, please know that you can help her. Your donation, however small it may be, will help us arrange for her surgery as soon as possible. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Amna Khan’s Adenoidectomy as much as possible.

For the last six years, twelve years old, Amna Khan has been suffering from discharge and hearing loss in her right ear. At first, the doctors tried to treat it with medication. But, the problem persisted and Amna felt her sense of hearing decline in her left ear. Therefore, after a CT Scan and Audiogram, the doctor diagnosed Amna with bilateral Glue Ears due to enlarged Adenoids.

Adenoids trap germs that enter the body. Adenoid tissue sometimes swells (becomes enlarged) as it tries to fight infection. There is a link between large adenoids and glue ears. It happens when the middle ear becomes blocked by a sticky substance that affects the sense of hearing.

To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Amna to undergo an Adenoidectomy + grommet insertion. An Adenoidectomy is the removal of the adenoids. A grommet is a tube that is inserted through the tympanic membrane of the ear for drainage of the middle ear. Unfortunately, Amna’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Her father is a driver and hardly earns PKR 20,000 per month. He told us:

“Because of this illness, my daughter’s future is on the line. She is unable to perform well at school which depresses her. Transparent Hands is the only hope at our disposal.”

After a lot of mental distress, Amna Khan’s parents have registered her case with Transparent Hands. We have assured him that we would arrange Amna’s surgery as soon as possible. But, that won’t be possible without your help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Amna Khan’s Adenoidectomy.

Amna Khan's Story

Amna Namroz, aged 12, from Karachi, has been enduring pain and ear discharge for the last six years of life. Upon consultation with an ENT specialist, she was diagnosed with Bilateral Glue Ear secondary to Enlarged Adenoids. After the diagnosis, she was advised to undergo an Adenoidectomy. An Adenoidectomy, or Adenoid removal, is surgery to remove the adenoid glands. While adenoids help protect the body from viruses and bacteria, they sometimes become swollen and enlarged or chronically infected. To get this procedure done, she was sent to Patel Hospital. Amna’s procedure was done on 03-08-2021 by Dr. Talha Ahmed. She was discharged the following day in a satisfactory condition. Amna is now healing and looks forward a bright future
