Fifty-seven years old Bashir Ahmad suffered from severe pain in his right lumbar area. Along with pain, he experienced nausea and vomiting as well. When the pain persisted for a few months, he consulted a doctor. After thorough investigations, the doctor diagnosed Bashir Ahmad with Right Renal Lithiasis. Renal lithiasis is a disease caused by the presence of stones inside the kidneys or urinary tract. At first, the doctor attempted to control the symptoms through painkillers, but they could only provide temporary relief. Now, two years later, surgery has become crucial for Bashir Ahmad. To treat his painful condition, the doctor has advised him to undergo Percutaneous Nephrolithotomy. It is a minimally invasive procedure to remove stones from the kidney by a small puncture wound through the skin.
Unfortunately, Bashir Ahmad does not have enough resources to arrange for his surgery. He works as a car mechanic and hardly earns PKR 14000 per month. With this measly income, he is hardly able to keep his household running. He told us:
“I am in so much pain right now. Sometimes, I wake up in the middle of the night with blinding pain on my right side. It seems as if this pain has taken over my life. It has affected my work, my mobility, my ability to perform basic tasks.”

Bashir Ahmad's Story
Bashir Ahmad, aged 57 years, suffered from pain in his right lumber region. He also complained of occasional nausea and vomiting. When he got himself checked, his condition was diagnosed as renal lithiasis (kidney stones). The doctor advised percutaneous nephrolithotomy.
For this purpose, Bashir was admitted to Abid Hospital and the procedure was performed by Dr. Asif Hameed on 18.04.2021. Stones were removed from Bashir’s right kidney. He stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in a satisfactory condition. Bashir’s energy level has improved considerably and he feels much better since his surgery.
