Binyamin Khan's Story

Seeing your loved ones suffer from a disease or disorder is always an emotionally daunting experience, but the experience becomes a hundred times worse if it is children who are at the receiving end of the darker side of life. This is exactly what Binyamin’s, a four-year-old boy from Peshawar, family is going through right now. The five-membered family is desperately looking for a miracle that will put an end to Binyamin’s misery. Before we talk more about Binyamin’s family’s financial status, we must make you familiar with his condition, and the treatment that he has been prescribed.

Anorectal malformations (ARM) are congenital defects in which anus and rectum do not develop. A child suffering from such malformations will face immense difficulty passing stool. A surgical correction is needed to correct ARMs. Binyamin went through a posterior Sagittal Anorectoplasty (PSARP) surgery before. Now, the surgery that Binyamin has been advised is a colostomy reversal. Skipping the medical jargon, this surgical procedure allows colon stoma to close, thereby facilitating the reestablishment of faecal flow through the lower tract. The aforementioned reattachment is made possible via an anastomosis. However, while the procedure promises an end to Binyamin’s misery, it is well within the Binyamin’s parent’s reach.

“My boy had his first surgery the second day after he was born,” says Ijaz, Binyamin’s father. “Then, he had another surgery in 2018, routine check-ups continued during this time. But now when everything can be back to normal with this final colostomy reversal, we have run out of funds completely. As the only breadwinner of the family, my choices are tough enough already. The possibility of managing Binyamin’s surgery doesn’t look feasible right now. Things would have been even more depressing, had it not been for Transparent Hands”

Transparent Hands is going to help Binyamin’s family in their quest for funds for their boys’ colostomy reversal. But without your help, it will be a futile effort. You know the patient, you know the story. All that is left to do is DONATE for Binyamin’s colostomy reversal NOW!
