Ghulam Fareed's Story

Fate’s cruelty often leaves the mortal souls depressed but oftentimes humans prove to be even crueller than fate. Unfortunately, Ghulam Fareed tasted both of their cruelties in ample amounts when he met the most horrific accident of his life. 11 years ago, due to a glitch in the machine system at work, Ghulam Fareed got his hand stuck in a press machine and severely injured his left arm. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment where the doctor advised to cut his arm below the elbow level (below-elbow amputation). Now, there is only one arm left for him to perform his work and daily activities. Unfortunately, his left arm was not the only thing Ghulam Fareed lost in the accident, soon after he lost his job as well. His disability makes him ineligible for many jobs limiting his options to have stable work.

Through one of his friends, Ghulam Fareed heard about a prosthetic arm – an artificial limb to replace his lost arm. Later, he circled back and forth to many hospitals in search of it but couldn’t get much help.

Ghulam Fareed works at a private factory now and earns PKR 20,000 per month. With a family of 6 members still dependent on him, all of his monthly income gets spent on rent and household expenses. Due to his poor socioeconomic circumstances, he is unable to pay for his prosthetic arm out of his pocket.

“I worked on that machine for years and never, for once, got even a hair out of place. That day came like a wrecking ball and just destroyed my entire life. I had been out of a job for the last 6 years. I just found one recently and it is very difficult to work with one hand. I am at my wit’s end, please help me.” -Ghulam Fareed

We believe that Ghulam Fareed deserves access to a prosthetic arm. With your kind help, we can restore his faith in kindness and humanity. Please donate for Ghulam Fareed’s prosthetic arm and help put a poor man’s life out of misery. Donate now!

Ghulam Fareed's Story

Ghulam Fareed, 50 years of age, sustained a crushing injury on his left arm while working on a press machine, eleven years ago. He was immediately taken to a local hospital where his arm was amputated below the elbow. Ghulam recovered well but was depressed to lose his valuable arm which he needed for work. He was not even able to perform his day to day activities. The doctors advised an artificial arm with hand for him. The recommended prosthesis was arranged by HOPE rehabilitation center through the support of Transparent Hands team and applied on 15-12-2020. Ghulam is overjoyed to be independent in his work once again.
