Ghulam Ghaus's Story

Ghulam Ghaus, 46 years old, is a father of three children and earns his living by driving a rickshaw. He was leading an ordinary life with a set routine when suddenly his health started deteriorating. He experienced intense pain in the upper right quadrant of his abdomen. The pain was accompanied with nausea and indigestion. This continued for a month. Then, Ghulam decided to get himself checked in a local hospital. The doctor examined him and conducted a few tests.

The reports of the tests showed that Ghulam had symptomatic gallstones. Initially, the doctor prescribed pain killers to him but when this temporary solution did not work, he advised Ghulam to have an open cholecystectomy. In this surgical procedure, the surgeon removes the gallbladder by making an incision in the abdomen.

Now, although it is established that the surgery will provide a solution for the gallstones, the problem at hand is that Ghulam cannot afford it. His income is only PKR 22,000 per month. This amount is hardly enough to bear all the monthly expenses.

“I have been having frequent episodes of intense abdominal pain. Sometimes, the pain gets so unbearable that I am unable to drive my rickshaw and I have to come back home. It is difficult to fulfil my family’s needs as I do not earn enough already. On top of that, these gallstones are further causing a decrease in my livelihood.”– said Ghulam

Ghulam found a ray of hope when his friend told him about Transparent Hands. He contacted our team and got himself registered.

Now, all he needs is your support to go ahead with the surgery. Your donations can end his suffering. Therefore, please do not think twice and lend a helping hand to Ghulam Ghaus.
