Ghulam Shabbir's Story

Ghulam Shabbir, 56 years old, is a resident of Khanewal. He has two daughters and a son and two grandchildren as well. Ghulam lives with his elder son who sells fruits. They live a happy contented life. However, for the last one year, Ghulam started experiencing burning sensation during micturition and retention of urine. Initially, he ignored the symptoms but when they became persistent, he decided to visit the local hospital. He was checked thoroughly and was diagnosed with an enlarged prostate. The doctor told him that surgical intervention was necessary. The advised surgery is called Urethrocystoscopy and transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP). Urethrocystoscopy refers to an examination of the bladder and urinary tract. Whereas, TURP is a urological operation performed by visualizing the prostate through the urethra and removing tissue by sharp electrocautery.

Ghulam is a daily wager and earns only PKR 14,000 per month. The recommended procedures are way out of his budget. He did try to get an appointment for his surgery from a local hospital but they kept asking him to revisit without giving a definitive date. It has been a year now. Ghulam has not had any relief from his symptoms.

On one of his many visits to the hospital, the consultant told him about our organization. He decided to visit us and we registered his case.

“I have made countless visits to the local hospitals in hopes of getting a date for my surgery. But, their staff is already overworked. No slot is available for surgery till next year. Then, my doctor told me about the Transparent Hands organization. I immediately paid a visit to them. They were kind enough to register my case. May God bless these people for caring for people like us. We do not have anything to give in return except for our sincerest prayers.”– says Ghulam Shabbir

Ghulam needs your support now. We can only have his surgery conducted if sufficient funds are donated for him. So, please help this old man in his time of need and make a generous donation for his Urethrocystoscopy and TURP surgery.
