Gulfaraz Ahmed's Story

Before you proceed to read about the details of Gulfaraz Ahmed’s ailments, please know that you can help him. Your donation, however small it may be, will help us arrange for his cataract surgery as soon as possible. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Gulfaraz’s cataract surgery as much as possible.

For the last three months, thirty-five years old Gulfaraz Ahmed has been suffering from a Cataract in both his eyes. A cataract is a dense, cloudy area that forms in the lens of the eye. It begins when proteins in the eye form clumps that prevent the lens from sending clear images to the retina. The retina works by converting the light that comes through the lens into signals.

To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Gulfaraz Ahmed to undergo Phacoemulsification with IOL. Phacoemulsification is a modern cataract surgery method in which the eye’s internal lens is emulsified with an ultrasonic handpiece. Later, the doctor will replace it with an intraocular lens implant or IOL.

Unfortunately, Gulfaraz Ahmed cannot afford the hefty cost of cataract surgery. Due to his withering condition, he has not been able to work for the last three years. Therefore, Gulfaraz is financially dependent on his father, who is a daily wage worker. He hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. Gulfaraz’s father told us:

“Ever since Gulfaraz was a baby, his eyes used to give away whatever he was feeling. But now, his vision is blurred out, his eyes do not even say anything -just grim resignation.”

After a lot of effort, Gulfaraz Ahmed has requested Transparent Hands for help. After due medical and financial verification, we have registered him with us. We wish to arrange his cataract surgery as soon as possible. But, that won’t be possible without your help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Gulfaraz’s cataract surgery as much as possible.
