Hameedan Bibi 's Story

Hameedan Bibi, 51 years old, had been suffering from recurrent intense shooting pain in her hypochondriac region on the right side. She also felt nauseous and experienced abdominal stretch as well. On consultation with a physician, she was diagnosed with gallstones. Her abdominal pain did not settle with medicines and the doctors advised a surgery called laparoscopic cholecystectomy for her. This is a minimally invasive surgery for removal of gallbladder.

Hameedan’s symptoms have gotten worse in the last four months but she is not able to afford the surgery on her own. She is a housewife and her husband’s pay is only PKR 14,000 per month. They cannot bear the expenses of the surgery even if they save up money for more than six months.

“I have been suffering from intense abdominal pain for many months now. It rips through my abdomen and I am unable to work. I have taken the medicines that the doctors have prescribed very regularly. Still, there is no remedy. I wish there was any way that I could get the surgery.”– says Hameedan

Hameedan Bibi, aged 51, a resident of Khanewal was diagnosed with Cholelithiasis. After a medical evaluation, she was advised to undergo laparoscopic cholecystectomy. For this purpose, she was admitted to Abid Hospital, where the surgery was performed by Dr. Abdul Saeed Sajjid on 11.03.2020 and her gallbladder was removed. She was discharged from the hospital in satisfactory condition after three days of stay. Hameedan Bibi is now hopeful of living a better life as she is gradually recovering from the surgery.
