Muhammad Huzaifa 's Story

Muhammad Huzaifa, 18 months old, suffered from severe abdominal pain and discomfort around three months ago. His mother could not understand what was wrong with him as he kept on crying. So, she finally took him to the nearest local hospital. The doctors conducted multiple tests. After extensive examination, the doctors decided to perform an explorative laparotomy on Huzaifa. At the time of surgery, he was found to have intussusception leading to intestinal gangrene. They resected his gangrenous gut and performed a double barrel ileostomy. In ileostomy surgery, the small intestine is diverted by making an opening in the abdomen.

Now, the doctors have advised an ileostomy reversal surgery for Huzaifa. An ileostomy reversal surgery is performed for closure of ileostomy so that the patient can have bowel movements like they did before the surgery.

Huzaifa’s parents did try to take an appointment for the final surgery from a local hospital but they were asked to wait until next year. This caused them a lot of stress and worry as paying for a major surgery like this was next to impossible for them. Huzaifa’s father is a factory worker and earns only PKR 15,000 per month. All the four members of the family are dependent on his income. They barely make it through a month.

Coincidently, Huzaifa’s father discussed his problem with a friend of his who had his daughter operated with the help of Transparent Hands. He told him all about the organization. The opportunity presented itself as their only source of hope in the difficult time. They came to our office and got Huzaifa registered.

“I thanked God all night in my prayers when I got to know about the Transparent Hands organization. Their team was very cordial to us. They have promised to take care of all the medical expenses. I do not have the words to express my gratitude. May God bless the entire team for their unconditional efforts.”– says Huzaifa’s father

Muhammad Huzaifa 's Story

Muhammad Huzaifa, 1.5 years old, suffered from severe abdominal pain and discomfort. After extensive examination, the doctors decided to perform an explorative laparotomy on Huzaifa. At the time of surgery, he was found to have intussusception leading to intestinal gangrene. They resected his gangrenous gut and performed a double barrel ileostomy. In ileostomy surgery, the small intestine is diverted and temporarily taken out onto the abdomen. Now, the doctors advised an ileostomy reversal surgery for Huzaifa. For this purpose he was admitted to Akram Medical Complex, where he underwent colostomy closure by Dr. Bilal Mirza on 29.03.2021. He stayed in the hospital for five days and was discharged in a stable condition. Now during post-operative recovery, Muhammad Huzaifa is looking forward to leading a normal life.
