Muhammad Junaid has been suffered from sensorineural hearing loss since birth, but his parents didn’t realize this immediately. They thought he was just a calm and polite boy. They became concerned and took him to the hospital after he did not respond to voices and his name for two years. The doctor diagnosed him and after a thorough examination, advised them to get him to get a Cochlear Implant. A cochlear implant is a surgically implanted neuroprosthesis that helps a person with bilateral sensorineural hearing loss.

Unfortunately, Junaid’s parents cannot afford to bear the hefty cost of a Cochlear Implant surgery. Junaid’s father is the sole earner in the family. He works as a laborer and hardly manages to earn PKR 16,000 per month. He told us:
