Isn’t it simply painful to see little ones hurting from something so terrible like a cardiac disease? Among the many congenital heart defects, the one that has proven to be most dangerous is Tetralogy of Fallot or abbreviated as TOF. The worst thing about TOF? It is not one but four defects snowballed into one. While the medicines can provide temporary relief, their effectiveness diminishes in the longer run. Open heart surgery seems to be one of the most effective ways of treating this cardiac problem. Something that Masrora Wali Muhammad has also been advised by doctors. But the problems of this two-year-old angel aren’t only of cardiac nature.

You see, Masrora hails from a family in district lower Dir. (KPK) which fails to make more than 15K PKR per month. This is her father’s income from which, he still has to pay a rent of 3K PKR. So, you can imagine how far from reality does an open heart surgery sounds to Masrora’s family. And yet, from the day they found out about TOF via ECHO, Masrora’s folks have been continuously trying to raise some money for the surgical procedure. Their efforts have been, so far, in vain.

“It is one thing to calculate costs, another to afford them. We have knocked on the doors of our relatives, tried saving money but lost it because of different hospitals checking on our baby. We have one last ray of hope and that is Transparent Hands. We came to know about this organization at a hospital, and ever since, our hopes have become somewhat linked to donors at Transparent Hands”
