Mazhar Abbas's Story

Before you proceed to read about the details of Mazhar Abbas’s ailments, please know that you can help him. Your donation, however small it may be, will help us arrange for his cataract surgery as soon as possible. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Mazhar’s cataract surgery as much as possible.

Forty years old Mazhar Abbas has been suffering from a Cataract in his left eye. A cataract is a dense, cloudy area that forms in the lens of the eye. It begins when proteins in the eye form clumps that prevent the lens from sending clear images to the retina. The retina works by converting the light that comes through the lens into signals.

To treat this condition, Mazhar underwent a Phacoemulsification along with the placement of the intraocular lens (IOL). Phaco with an intraocular lens (IOL) is a brief surgical procedure where the cataract-affected lens inside the eye is removed and replaced with an artificial lens in its place. Now, after four years, Mazhar Abbas needs a lens replacement surgery.

Unfortunately, Mazhar Abbas cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Mazhar works as a barber and hardly manages to earn PKR 9000 per month. With this measly income, he is in no position to arrange for his eye surgery. He told us:

“Four years ago, when I had the cataract surgery, I thought it was the end of my problems. Little did I know that the problems have only begun. The post-op care is draining my budget and the lens replacement surgery is completely out of the question.”

After a lot of effort, Mazhar Abbas has requested Transparent Hands for help. After due medical and financial verification, we have registered him with us. We wish to arrange his cataract surgery as soon as possible. But, that won’t be possible without your help. Therefore, we request you to please donate for Mazhar’s cataract surgery as much as possible.
