Three years old Muhammad Ahmad has been suffering from a left inguinal hernia. He has been suffering from this disease since his birth. For those of you who don’t know much about hernias, an inguinal hernia refers to a protrusion of abdominal contents through the weak spot in the inguinal canal. The consequences of this include constant stretch and pain. And while hernia patients need a lot of care, Ahmad has been through the mill so far. 

To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Muhammad Ahmad to undergo a herniotomy. A herniotomy is the easiest way of fixing a hernia sac, a surgery that can put Ahmad’s misery to an end. 

Ahmad’s family finds itself in a helpless position. Unfortunately, Muhammad Ahmad’s parents cannot afford the cost of his surgery. His father is the sole earner of the family. He drives an auto-rickshaw to earn his living and hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. In this measly income, they cannot afford their son’s surgery. He told us:

“I spend most of my day on roads waiting for rides. All the while, I am thinking about my son. His condition has put our entire family in distress. Everyone is worried about him.”
