They say children are like those delicate little buds which need not only your love but care and protection as well to grow into beautiful flowers. One such little bud is a five-year-old Muhammad Anas from Kasur who is suffering from ARM (Anorectal malformation) since birth. ARM is a birth defect in which the anus and rectum (the lower end of the digestive tract) does not develop properly. As a result, a child suffering from this is not able to pass stool properly. Talking about Anas’s medical history, his parents took him to a government hospital. Doctors operated on him. Now, Muhammad Anas needs to undergo a PSARP – the second step of the management to make his back passage. Anas`s parents took him again to the hospital for the second surgery but due to COVID-19 situation, the hospital has refused to take his case. Their only option is to have surgery at a private hospital on an urgent basis. Anas’s father is the only breadwinner with an income of 17,000 PKR. He must support his wife and five kids, and he can’t bear the expenses of Anas`s second surgery. Both parents are extremely worried about their child’s suffering. While explaining their financial condition to Transparent Hands, his mother said while being in tears:

“I wish I could do anything to end my son`s misery. I can’t see him suffering. We don’t even have our own house and we live at my in-law’s house. The doctors have told us that Anas needs immediate surgery otherwise his life would be in danger. I can’t imagine losing my son.”
