Since birth, Muhammad Hashim has been suffering from a painful lump in his inguinal area. At first, Muhammad Hashim’s parents did not pay much attention to it. Later, when the condition persisted, they took him to the hospital. After thorough testing, the doctor diagnosed Muhammad Hashim with a left inguinal hernia. For those who do not know much about hernias, an inguinal hernia refers to a protrusion of abdominal contents through the inguinal canal. The consequences of this include constant stretch and pain.

A Herniotomy is the easiest way of removing a hernia sac, a surgery that can put Hashim’s misery to an end. But unfortunately, Hashim’s parents cannot afford the hefty cost of this surgery. Muhammad Hashim’s father was the sole earner of their family and worked as a laborer. However, recently, he met with a horrible accident due to which he has been unable to work. Muhammad Hashim’s mother works as a house help and hardly manages to earn PKR 6000 per month. She told us:

“Everything I earn goes to take care of my bedridden husband and my ailing son. Even if I save for a lifetime, I won’t be able to save enough for my son’s surgery. Whoever is reading this, I request you to please help my family. My son is the only hope that gets me through the day.”

Muhammad Hashim's Story

Muhammad Hashim, 2.5 year old, a resident of Gujranwala had swelling in the inguinal region. His parents took him to the hospital and he was diagnosed with right Inguinal Hernia. He was advised to have a right herniotomy. For this purpose, he was admitted to Lahore Care Hospital and the surgery was performed by Dr. Sajid on 13-08-21. He stayed in the hospital for two days and then he was discharged in a stable condition.
