Muhammad Tahir Naveed's Story

Muhammad Tahir Naveed, aged 19, hails from the Sahiwal district of the country and suffers from renal stones in his right kidney. Tahir has been fighting this painful condition for the last couple of years. Renal stones can form due to various reasons, but these details don’t mean much to Tahir. All that he can relate to is pain that has been worsening for the last six months or so. Tahir’s pain is concentrated mostly in the lumbar region, which often leads to vomiting & abdominal stretch. Considering his current renal status, surgeons have advised Tahir Naveed a right PCNL. A procedure that promises an end to Tahir’s pain forever!

PCNL stands for percutaneous nephrolithotomy, a minimally invasive procedure that facilitates the removal of kidney stones. The surgical intervention involves the infliction of a small puncture wound, which is big enough to allow the removal of stones as big as 2cm in size. This direct removal method is effective for removing stones present in the pelvic region. While there is no doubt on the effectiveness of the procedure, it is a major surgical technique that can cost a patient a lot financially. And Muhammad Tahir Naveed’s family’s financial status is not stable enough to facilitate a PCNL, irrespective of Tahir’s pain. His father says:

“For a farmer who earns only around 16,000 PKR per month, managing a family of eight is tough enough a challenge. Affording Tahir’s PCNL surgery is simply not possible right now, and I say this with a heavy heart for Tahir is closer to my heart than you can imagine. But remaining oblivious to realities is not an option, we must face them with a brave heart”

Tahir’s father still has one hope left in his arsenal. That hope is Transparent Hands. And while the organization will strive to do everything in its capacity that makes Tahir’s right PCNL actually happen, it needs your help as well. You know the patient, you know the story. All that you have to do is DONATE for Tahir Naveed’s right PCNL NOW!
