Nadia Ali, a 30-year-old resident of Thatta, has been suffering from nasal obstruction and headache for the last five years. The doctor diagnosed it as left Antrochoanal polyps (ACP). ACP are benign lesions that arise from the mucosa of the maxillary sinus, grow into the maxillary sinus and reach the choana, with nasal obstruction being their main symptom. Moreover, she suffers from right nasal adhesions. Nasal adhesions are abnormal tissue bridges between adjacent mucosal surfaces, particularly between the septum and components of the lateral nasal wall.

To treat this condition, the doctor has advised Nadia to undergo a surgery for the excision of right nasal adhesions and Caldwell-Luc operation for the removal of left sided Polyps.

Unfortunately, Nadia’s family cannot afford the hefty cost of the above mentioned procedures. Nadia’s husband is the sole earner in the family. He works as a laborer on daily wages and hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. With this income, he barely manages the household expenses. Therefore, he is in no position to arrange his wife’s treatment. He told us:

Nadia, a 30-year-old resident of Thatta, had been suffering from chronic nasal obstruction for the last five years. The doctor gave her symptomatic treatment, but her condition worsened and she started experiencing severe headaches and breathing problems. On medical consultation, she was diagnosed with left antrochoanal polyp and right nasal adhesions. She was advised to undergo a left Caldwell Luc operation along with excision of adhesions on the right side. For this purpose, Nadia was admitted to ISRA Hospital and her surgery was performed by Dr. Amrat Kumar on 12.02.2022. She stayed in the hospital for two days and was discharged in satisfactory condition. Nadia can breathe easily now.
