Donate for Nafay’s Cochlear Implant Surgery
Muhammad Nafay 's Story
Nafay has been in a world of silence since birth. He feels the pain of isolation due to hearing loss. There’s a surgical treatment for his condition but his family cannot afford to pay for it due to financial constraints. You can give him the gift of hearing with your donation and his family will remember your generosity their whole lives. We request you donate for Nafay’s Cochlear Implant Surgery to bring joy to his life.
One-year-old Nafay, a resident of Sargodha, has been suffering from Congenital Sensorineural Hearing Loss. When he was a year old, his parents noticed that he wasn’t responding to their voices. His parents took him to the local hospital where his tests were done. Upon consultation, he was diagnosed with sensorineural hearing loss. The doctor advised him to undergo cochlear implant surgery. A cochlear implant is a small electronic device that electrically stimulates the cochlear nerve (nerve for hearing). The implant has external and internal parts. The external part is fixed behind the ear. It processes the sounds with a microphone and then transmits them to the internal part of the implant.
He lives in a small house with his parents and three siblings. His father earns just PKR 15,000 per month. He has no other source of income. With this meager income, his father can’t afford the surgical expenses. He said in distress:
“My child is in a world of isolation where our voices cannot reach him. My greatest fear is that he will get fewer opportunities in life if I fail to arrange money for his cochlear implant surgery. I request that you come forward and donate today.
His father contacted Transparent Hands to register his son’s case. We urge you to donate for Nafay’s Cochlear Implant surgery to help him discover the world of sounds.
Please Note: In certain situations, we proceed with the patient's surgery/medical procedure despite incomplete funding displayed on the website. Following the surgery/medical procedure, we persist in collecting funds and maintain the campaign on the website until funding is secured in full. Hospitals have granted us a grace period for bill payment.
Muhammad Nafay 's Story
Muhammad Nafay, a 2-year-old boy from Sargodha, had been living in a world of silence since birth. When his parents learned about his condition, they consulted with an audiologist. Nafay was diagnosed with congenital sensorineural hearing loss. After examination, the doctor recommended cochlear implant surgery as the most reliable option for him to gain a sense of hearing.
Nafay’s parents longed to see their only child listen and respond to sounds. However, Nafay’s father found himself with no feasible options to cover the cost of his son's surgery. With hope, Nafay’s family contacted Transparent Hands for financial assistance.
We promptly assisted his case and Nafay was admitted to Ali Medical Centre, Islamabad. Dr. Jawad Ahmad, a skilled surgeon, successfully fitted the internal component of the cochlear implant on 27th June 2024.
On 28th June 2024, Nafay’s parents celebrated his discharge. Their hearts were brimming with new hope and anticipation. Six weeks after the surgery, the external component was carefully installed. After the treatment, Nafay marked the beginning of a new chapter with a speech therapy program. He is receiving regular speech therapy sessions to unlock his potential for effective communication. Each session is a stepping stone, guiding him toward mastering the nuances of language and communication.
Nafay’s father said with gratitude:
"My heart was filled with immeasurable joy when my son responded to my voice for the first time. I am immensely grateful for all the support from donors."
His newfound ability to hear has profoundly transformed his life. It has allowed him to immerse himself in the world around him fully.
In every way, Nafay’s story is a prime example of the hope and the power your donations hold. Now, he can embrace a world filled with melodious sounds and endless possibilities.
The selfless contributions of our donors, regardless of their size, have played a pivotal role in facilitating Nafay’s surgery.
