For the last five years, Naheed Bhutto has been suffering from severe abdominal pain. When the episodes of pain became more frequent than usual, Naheed consulted a doctor. After a couple of diagnostic tests, Naheed was found to have bilateral small renal stones and symptomatic gallstones. Cholelithiasis or the gallstones formed in the biliary tract in the gallbladder. The reason behind these stones is the excessive cholesterol levels in the bile.

Cholecystectomy is the surgical removal of the gallbladder. While the surgery offers a permanent solution to Naheed’s problem, there is no denying that it is quite an expensive medical procedure.

Unfortunately, the hefty cost of a Cholecystectomy surgery is beyond Naheed’s affordability. Naheed’s husband is the sole earner of the family. He works as a security guard and hardly manages to earn PKR 15000 per month. With a family of eight to raise in this measly income, it has become impossible for him to save anything for his wife’s surgery. He told us:

“Every day, I see my beloved wife writhing in pain. Mere words and medicines have failed to provide any relief to her. Whoever is reading this, I request you to please help me.”
