The sense of hearing is one of the biggest blessings given to us by the Almighty. Without this sense, Nazakat Ali feels lost as he is unable to hear and communicate properly. About four years ago, 65-year-old Nazakat Ali suffered from a ruptured eardrum. At first, he did not pay much heed to it and considered it a minor trauma. However, slowly, his sense of hearing declined. Upon consultation, he received symptomatic treatment from a local hospital. The doctor diagnosed Nazakat’s condition as Sensorineural Hearing Loss. Sensorineural hearing loss, or SNHL, occurs after inner ear damage. Problems with the nerve pathways from the inner ear to the brain can also cause SNHL. Soft sounds may be hard to hear. Even louder sounds may be unclear or may sound muffled. This is the most common type of permanent hearing loss.

To treat his condition, the doctor has advised Nazakat to get a hearing aid. But, unfortunately, Nazakat Ali cannot afford the hefty cost of the hearing aid. Nazakat Ali is the sole earner in his family. He works as a musician. Due to his hearing loss, it has become impossible for him to pursue his passion and profession. He needs this hearing aid to make a living and survive. His son told us:

“Ever since he has been deprived of music, he stays restless. My father seems lost most of the time. Losing the sense of hearing is the worst thing a musician can face.  Please help us bring happiness back into his life.”
