Nazia Qamar's Story
Nazia Qamar, 31 years old, noticed a protrusion in her navel region (umbilical area) around seven months ago after she gave birth. Initially, she ignored it. But later, she noticed that the lump was changing color. It also became tender and increasingly painful. These symptoms seemed unusual so Nazia decided to seek medical consultation from a local hospital. The doctor examined the lump and conducted different tests. Her condition was ultimately diagnosed as a paraumbilical hernia which is basically a hole in the connective tissue of the abdominal wall. It is located in the midline in close proximity to the umbilicus. The doctors suggested a procedure called mesh hernioplasty for her. It is a type of hernia repair surgery in which a mesh patch is sewn over the weakened region of the abdominal wall.
Nazia was not happy to hear that she needed a surgery. Her family is already going through financial troubles. They can hardly afford the household necessities in their current budget. She is a housewife and their joint family income is only PKR 25,000 per month. Paying for an expensive medical procedure at this point seems impossible to them.
Consequently, Nazia dropped the idea of treatment and made up her mind to live with her painful condition. However, upon discussing the matter with one of her friends, she got to know about our organization. She visited our office and got her details verified. We have registered Nazia’s case with us. Now, what she needs the most is your unwavering support. Your financial assistance will help her get the recommended surgery.
“The Transparent Hands team is my only hope. Since, there was no way I could afford the procedure on my own, I had lost all hope. But then, my friend told me about their organization. I do not have words to express my gratitude to these people. They have decided to stand by me in a time when everyone else has left my side.”– said Nazia with her eyes tearing up
We request you to make generous donations for Nazia’s mesh hernioplasty. Your little act of kindness will change her life for good.
