Nusrat Bibi's Story
40 years old Nusrat Bibi hails from the Abbottabad district of the country and is a patient of a disease called Cholelithiasis. Before we delve into the possible treatment and why Nusrat Bibi hasn’t gone for it already, let us understand what happens in Cholelithiasis first. Commonly dubbed as gallstones deposit, Cholelithiasis is a condition in which concretions are formed in the biliary tract in the gallbladder. The type of stones that form can differ, but the recommended treatment in most cases is laparoscopic cholecystectomy. For those of you who are not well familiar with the process at all, a laparoscope is a thin tube with a camera, which helps to remove the diseased gallbladder. While it might sound like a complicated process, patients undergoing a laparoscopic cystectomy can go home on the same day, post-surgery. So what is stopping Nusrat Bibi from undergoing this surgery that promises an end to her pain and misery?
Her family’s financial condition. Nusrat’s husband is a waiter in a local hotel, a job that doesn’t yield more than 12,000 PKR/ monthly. Managing a seven-membered family in such a meager amount is challenging enough. Affording a cholecystectomy is simply out of question, as Nusrat herself sums up the situation in words soaked in pain:
“Our five kids need everything we never had as parents. And so, in between managing their wishes and providing provisions for sustenance, my surgery is a topic I hardly wish to talk about. Although I must confess, there is one little ray of hope that is keeping me going so far. That hope is Transparent Hands”
Transparent Hands strongly believes that Nusrat can be relieved of the year long misery that Cholelithiasis has inflicted on her. But our belief needs further strengthening, support that only you can provide. And one fine way of supporting Nusrat’s cause would be to DONATE for her laparoscopic cholecystectomy NOW!
Disclaimer: Transparent Hands makes sure that all the patients get surgery in time. If a patient requires urgent surgery and his/her condition is serious, Transparent Hands conducts the surgery immediately.
